“Bye!” I yelled to my friend. Finally, the school day that was as long as a fifty-foot snake was over! As usual, I was walking home and strolling along looking at the usual sites. Then something caught my attention. It was an odd shaped building that almost looked like a house, but stranger. Since I had time before my mom came home, I wandered around into the building. When I got to the door, I saw a strange light shining from it. Yearning to go in, I opened it and stumbled inside. The door closed shut behind me and wouldn’t open. I was stuck inside, and I knew someone else was there too.
Quickly, I stood up and looked around to see if anyone else was around me. I couldn’t find a single soul. The house looked like a messy jungle with old plant pots and carvings in the wall, even a dead flower pot was laying next to the only window. I then noticed a stair case made of uneven, rusty steel in front of me, so I went on exploring. As I went to the second floor, I noticed more unusual objects. There was a giant cardboard cut out and five fossil displays scattered around randomly. I went further and deeper into the dark light.
“Where am I?” I asked aloud to myself. As soon as I said that, I heard loud thumps on the ground and froze in terror. In front of me, hidden in the darkness of the dim light, on the other side of the hallway, was a tall figure twice my size. Still in shock I tried to make out what the figure was, or who it was. I was right; someone else was trapped with me. The dark shadow came to me at the speed of light and grabbed me on my shoulder. I used a plastic sword stuck on the wall to break away from his grip and then I ran.
The uneven, rusty steel stairs fell apart as I ran down them. Boom! I fell to the ground with a thud. I shot up again but found myself fall harder because something was holding me down!
“Let go of me!” I yelled. He pulled me inside a newer nicer room and told me to sit, and now I could see his face. He looked like a friendly man and started to say something, but this was my chance to break away, so I did! I ran again, this time out of the strange building, surprised that the door was open, but he caught me and this time I fell even harder, enough to faint.
“Honey wakeup!” My mom loudly whispered.
“What happened?” I asked. She explained that a man had moved in across the street and was turning his home into an exotic museum.
“Mom his was a nightmare!” I admitted.
“He also wants to keep it a secret so he can open it up as a mystery, that’s why he carried you back in,” she explained ignoring me, “Oh, and did I mention that you’re banned from watching television for a week?”
“Why?!” I didn’t do any thing!” I exclaimed now out of my bed.
“You trespassed on to Mr. Henderson’s and destroyed his stairs,” she said angrily, “and tomorrow you are going there a gain and fixing it with your new neighbor!”
So I did, and never trespassed onto anyone’s property again!
This is a story written by my friend's daughter by which I was quiet impressed. I was quiet captivated by the flow of events and the way it ended with a moral. I was very happy to see a 11 year old with a good command of language along with imagination and values. I wanted everyone to enjoy it and appericiate it as much as I did!
